Best known for her versatility and unique voice, Toronto-born trumpeter and composer Nicole Rampersaud has become an in demand performer in cities across Canada and the United States. 


Most recently, Nicole was invited to perform at the 2007 edition of the Festival of New Trumpet Music with her Quintet. She was also part of the New York premiere of Anthony Braxton's Composition 103 for Seven Trumpets during the festival. Nicole is a member of the AIMToronto Orchestra, which had their debut performance at the Guelph Jazz Festival with Anthony Braxton.


As a side person, Nicole has had the opportunity to perform with many of today's leading jazz and improvising artists including Django Bates, Anthony Braxton, Dave Holland, Jim McNeely, George Garzone, and Bob Brookmeyer. She has also recorded and collaborated with percussionist Rakalam Bob Moses.


Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Nicole was self-taught on the Trumpet until she began her studies at the University of Toronto. Upon graduating from their Jazz Performance program, Nicole was offered a scholarship to continue her studies at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, where she received her Masters Degree. While at the Conservatory, she studied privately with John McNeil, Danilo Perez, Joe Morris, Jerry Bergonzi, and Joe Maneri.


Today, Nicole maintains a busy performance schedule as both a leader and side person. She is also a co-curator for the weekly Leftover Daylight Series.
